Advanced Band
The Advanced Bands (a.k.a Symphonic Band & Concert Band) together make up the Winds and Percussion section of the Tribe Marching Band and Color Guard. During the fall semester each class meets during the school day during it’s scheduled class time. Each class works on music fundamentals and music selections we perform during the semester (Field Show, Parade March, Spirit Songs, etc.). On Tuesdays and Thursdays, both groups meet for a night rehearsal to work on full ensemble music and rehearse our visual show.

 

String Orchestra
String Orchestra is comprised of students who are proficient or advanced on their instrument.  String Orchestra is a year long class open to all students who qualify.  Prior experience at the middle school level is required (students with no prior experience on string instruments who show interest to join must have prior knowledge in music from another performing ensemble).  The group participates in school concerts and the CMEA Orchestra festival each year.  During the school year the students work on basic fundamentals of the string instrument, daily rehearsal techniques and play different genres of literature.

 

Jazz Band
The Jazz Band is comprised of students who are proficient or advanced on their instrument, have room in their schedule and are interested in learning jazz concepts, styles, and improvisation. In this class, students develop knowledge and skills in
ensemble balance, tone production, improvisation, sight-reading, jazz theory and jazz history as it pertains to the music that is being prepared and performed. A wide variety of styles are studied and emphasis is placed on improvisation and repertoire.

 

Indoor Percussion

Indoor Percussion practices and performs during the winter months of the school year.  The group rehearses after school and perform at SVWAA and WGI competitions.

 

Color Guard

Color Guard is designed to provide our students with outstanding experiences in dance, flag, and weapon performance.  The program is a full year program that is featured during marching band and indoor winter guard performances.  Color Guard is by audition in the spring of the coming school year.  The group rehearses during the school day and after school.
